House Passes Health Bill - Tuesday, March 23, 2010
 It’s been a long 14 months, in one of the ugliest and confusing periods in American legislative history. [“The Republicans who stirred the tea”, Front page, March 22].  The House passage of the health reform bill mocks the older Americans who will be shouldering the impact of this legislation. They’re the ones who will see the quality of their health care compromised by $500 billion in Medicare cuts.  They will see their Medicare Advantage premiums rise or coverage canceled.  They will bear the consequences of their doctor being guided by a bureaucratic panel.

Your editorial, Biotech Bottleneck, doesn’t consider the many patients waiting for new therapies and cures, and the millions of older Americans who need safe medications. Your proposed biosimilars pathway is the least safe and the one most likely to destroy the pipeline to new treatments and cures that will save millions of lives and billions of dollars.
